Weird Problem here.
I've been getting Random Lockups for the last 4 or 5 weeks. I even installed Ubuntu on a separate partition to see if it did the same thing, and it does.
It only seems to lock up when the machine becomes idle..... for example.... i could be browsing the forums, and go to the kitchen to get a soda, and i come back and i'll be staring at the gdm login screen.
Or I can be playing WoW, exit the game and start doing something on my laptop, and my desktop will just freeze then reboot, i can't seem to find anything in syslog on this. I don't believe it's heat related, due to the fact that it only does it when the machine is idle. I let a memtest run all night, came back with 0 errors.... i have no clue where to look next.
I also tried taking the processor frequency support out of the kernel thinking that it was locking up when it was downclocking my proc, but that didn't fix it either.
Any Ideas out there??? _________________ Stratman4300

Check the power supply. (Power supply testing tools are fairly inexpensive and simple to use.) If you can, try a different power supply. I'm not 100% sure this is the problem, but it smells like it. _________________ "If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?" --Thomas Jefferson
