A quanto pare per avere la jdk 1.6 bisogna avere le libstdc++ 3.3 e quindi anche il gcc 3.3
Ma io che me ne faccio del gcc 3.3 quando ho già il 4.1 ?

per ovviare a questo problema installa questo pacchetto: sys-libs/libstdc++-v3
soddisfa la dipendenza virtual/libstdc++ ma non si porta dietro l'intero gcc vecchio: è un pacchetto molto utile perchè buona parte dei pacchetti binari per linux hanno tale dipendenza...

ricordati che, essendo una dipendenza, ti conviene emergerlo con -1
