Every few days my internet just stops working until I reset the modem. Like last night my internet just stopped working (no IRC connection, no torrent connection, no Instant Message connection, no web browsing) even though the light on my modem is on. So I tried leaving it like that and woke up this morning to find that the internet was still not working so I was forced to restart the modem. Why does this happen? |

The card is: Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
This problem started happening after I got my new cable internet. |

This, and your other comment, seem to point to an ISP side problem, or at least, not a software one. Contact your provider. |

I get the same thing from time to time (ISP is Shaw Cable). One of these days I'll get off my lazy ass long enough to ask them for a replacement modem... _________________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

I guess it's the ISP then. My modem is brand new because when the guy came to install the stuff, he had to open the box and the packaging and stuff. It wasn't already opened. |
