Since the xeffects server is curerently down, if you emerge --sync and do not have an updated xeffects overlay, then portage and the overlay will be out of sync.

What does this mean - well, kdelibs will be keyword masked in the overlay but unmasked in portage. Thsi could cause upgrade problems.

Please do not upgrade until after the xeffects server is back online and you can properly sync again.
