The gnome and kde teams are pleased to announce that gnome-2.18, kde-3.5.7 and expat-2.0.0 will be marked stable in the next few days.
Since the update of expat will force to recompile many packages, many of them part of the DEs, the kde and gnome team have coordinated efforts to coincide the update of expat with the update of gnome and kde to save users from having to compile the DE packages twice.

For more information and discussion on each DE release use the Gnome-2.18 and KDE-3.5.7 threads.

The packages were stabilised a couple of days ago. If you haven't upgraded yet, you may want to read this thread first.
