Hello,

I do not know what I did and I do not remember doing anything. My Network adapter suddenly stops working under gentoo (it still works under windows).
If I do "ifconfig" it is still there, and /etc/init.d/net.eth0 can also be run succesfully (I am using a static ip, so dhcp is not run). But I can not even ping my router!

From lspci:
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Unknown device 8168 (rev 01)

I am using the r8169 module for the adapter. This is what dmesg gives me:
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:04:00.0 disabled
r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.2LK loaded
    ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:04:00.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:04:00.0 to 64
    eth0: RTL8168b/8111b at 0xffffc20000016000, 00:1a:4d:49:2d:34, IRQ 17
    r8169: eth0: link down

ifconfig eth0 up does not help :(

Any Idea what I could try?
Thanks!
Nathan

link down is normally an indication that your cable is unplugged. Please post the output of
Code:
mii-tool eth0
and
Code:
mii-diag

Maybe this applies: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/86798

You might try emerging gentoo-sources and compiling the latest kernel.

Hello,

I found a fix here http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_RTL8168 and forgot to post at here. Sorry for that. And thanks for your answer!
