I recently installed Subversion and got it running with Apache.
After messing around a bit with it, I tried creating a project with svn import but I specified no directory to import from (and as I had done that before, I knew that Subversion creates a series of files and directories if you don't do that, but I didn't care).
This process stalled around a file named rev if I'm not mistaken. So I had to close the SSH session the hard way (I was on Windows using PuTTY). The only way to exit was to close the PuTTY window.
Now I tried to see how much my /var partition was eating and surprisingly, du said 1.5GB (out of 4 :S). So I messed around a little bit more and found this specific file to be weighing 1.1G
/var/svn/repos/db/transactions/8-1.txn/rev
What does this file do? I think this one was the one that stalled it
Did I do something wrong when importing? I checked again and the file was weighing 1.3G. htop showed me a svn import process still running on memory (maybe although I closed the PuTTY window the process kept going?)
I now removed the file (after rebooting my server). Can I expect any abnormal behaviour?
Thanks in advance.
