I recently upgraded to the new kernel, and went through the task of configuring it. I didn't change anything I thought would cause me a problem, so I went ahead and rebooted into the new kernel once I was happy with it, and went to start X.
It seems that, with the new kernel, it doesn't pick up my trackball anymore (/dev/input/event5), but it does still pick up my keyboard (/dev/input/event1). I rebooted back into my old kernel (from which I am posting right now), and it doesn't seem to be a problem with hardware (which I doubted it would be, since I was using my trackball before the reboot).
The trackball is connected via USB instead of PS/2 (still have the keyboard combo mouse installed so the keyboard works as expected, which is what is taking the PS/2 slot), but I don't see how that could cause a problem itself (since it has been like that for awhile).
Any ideas? _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

I've got a similar problem with my laptops "mousestick" (the little pin in the middle of my keyboard) where the boot stops for 15-20 seconds before it finds it and then continues booting. If i boot with acpi=off on the kernel line it works fine thou.
I havent had time to look into this more (went back to the 2.6.21 kernel) as I've got a work project that I have to finish first but there are changes done in the ps mouse kernel driver as I could see. _________________ HP NC 4010, Pentium-M 725 1.6GHz w/ 1Gb RAM, 60Gb Hitachi Travelstar.
Running Gentoo-2.6.21-r4 (again as 2.6.22 kernels hogs CPU), all but SD reader works fine. |

That doesn't help me much, sadly. This is almost seeming to be a USB issue, since my normal mouse (when I have it turned on and running) works fine. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

A bit of a progress update - this problem is still there. I'm going to go ahead and submit a bug to the gentoo bugzilla, and see if they can help any. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |
