Why can't you boot into a LiveCD for that? |

I want to resize because I need to increase the size of my backup partition and I dont want to put at risk my data.

Boot into a LiveCD and user resize2fs (after reading its man page of course.) By default it will resize to fill the underlying partition. Otherwise you have the option of specifying the exact growth size. It's safe to use on a live mounted partition. |
