|
|
Alright. I've got Fluxbox running on my laptop right now. Not sure if I'll use it a lot now that Gnome is installed, but I've been tinkering with keybindings and whatnot to set it up the way I want it, and it's not a half-bad environment.
Anyways, here's what's going on. When I go to move a window (whether it's just a move or to tab it), I lose sound after a about two seconds, until I drop the window. This is quite annoying, and I was wondering what kind of fixes exist, or if that's just a quirk I'll have to put up with if I use fluxbox.
Thanks,
Tom |

I don't have that problem with fluxbox, can you post some more details of whats happening at the time: - ie What programs are running/which windows you're moving? |

Hmm... interesting.
When I use Rhythmbox or totem to play .ogg or .flac files, moving any window causes this issue (again, it takes a few seconds) and it resumes when the window is dropped (as though it had continued playing).
When I use ogg123 (in xterm) to play ogg/flac, this doesn't happen.
Thoughts? |

It is also happening with totem (as mentioned before), so I don't imagine that it is Rhythmbox specific... Gnome specific perhaps, or something else related between the two. |

Wow... this is an old thread.
However, the problem persists. After I started this thread, I moved on to Gnome and forgot about it.
I've since given KDE 4.0 a try since it hit the portage tree and was sorely disappointed. So, now I'm back on the other extreme... back to Fluxbox for now.
Anyway, I'll quickly re-explain, for clarity.
If I have music playing, the music will mute while I'm moving a window, until it is dropped.
I also notices some other strange behavior. When any window is moved in fluxbox, all animations and sound basically stop until the window is dropped. When a window is resized, neither of these happen. In both cases, the dialog showing the coordinates pops up.
Just noticed something else. Amarok is also immune to this audio glitch. Something weird going on with Gnome apps perhaps? Everything is up-to-date. I don't think I have anything Gnome-related unstable (~x86).
(Oh, and I'm running fluxbox-1.0.0)
Any thoughts? Suggestions? |

This happens to me with Fluxbox too. I 'fixed' it going to Fluxbox menu >Configure >Opaque window moving. (select that)
Problem solved....?
Hope that helps. |

Ah... that worked!
Not a proper 'fix', but it works.
Thanks! |
