Hi all,

While away I upgraded my system and part of that upgrade involved the new nvidia drivers (100.14.11). I have an older graphics card (FX 5200). I also upgraded kde during this process. Unfortunately, I now am having trouble as KDE or any Xorg system is not loading (I am just using the terminal). The errors I am getting are as follows:

Code:

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0):  *** Aborting ***
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

I tried to revert back to the older driver and the problem remains. What, pray tell, is going on here?

Best,

Alex

Have you gone over your xorg.conf to see if there is a default depth,

Code:
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device     "Card0"
        Monitor    "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth      24

Have you rolled back to old drivers to see if they still work or recompiled your kernel?

Look in the var logs to see if it shows any more info :)

Hi,

Bah, the problem was simple. I didn't have the module autoloaded upon bootup, so I reckon that had been changed and I managed to miss it. Ah well!

Best,

Alex
