GLXGears is a tool to test 3D Graphical output.WHAT exactly goes wrong, when you try to emerge your drivers? (post error message as CODE)

I've had some problems getting MY system to work with ATI, but eventually solved my issues. ATI Problems with 3D

Your 3D is not working. Check in your kernel for DRM and compile it as Module '(but dont load it) or leave it unchecked. That actually solved my issues. Don't forget to update your bootloader.

what does lsmod show?
