apache gzip mod and proxy all in one.

i have seen that you can gzip compress your web traffic from apache with a mod. And you can use apache as a proxy. i want:

To use apache as a caching/compressing proxy on my cable modem, then i can use my dial-up account and set the proxy in my browser to my cable modems IP address and get gzip compressed web data. I notice that most sites don't compress their served pages via gzip and i think i can get some real speed improvements this way.

any comments or help?
