hi all!
today i wanted to test my hw radi5 with iozone and made the mistake to test performance on my encrypted partition. i used this command:
Code: |

and got this error:
Code: |

but everything seems to run properly. i use a ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Mainboard with BIOS 0903 where all APIC bugs have been fixed. for safety i unmounted ans mounted the encrypted filesystem again. no more errors yet.
any suggestions what this output is related to? APIC or dm-crypt or something else?
hope someone could help me.
EDIT: according to this post https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-418854-highlight-soft+lockup+detected+cpu.html of widan i think this might be a kernel problem. i use
Code: |
Preemption Model (No Forced Preemption (Server))
|
settings for my kernel cause i thought this might be the right desicion for my home server. should i better use the suggested
Code: |
Preemption Model (Preemptible Kernel (Low-Latency Desktop))
| setting?
greets

Some tests i can think of off the top of my head:
Boot the Gentoo Live cd and issue the same command, or knoppix.
Use a different kernel, vanilla-sources if you use gentoo-sources....etc
test it on a single disk instead of your raid set?
My memory sucks.
It's been a while but i remember, but my problem was fixed by submitting it to gentoo and sgi, dunno who actually fixed it though:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117656
Should probably mark my issue as solved...
I'd test different kernels, different compile options and a live cd or two and keep detailed logs of what works and what doesn't. then if you can't solve it submit a bug? _________________ Uber server: Tyan Dual 1.13Ghz P3 Tualatin. 3gig ram. 1.25TB usable disk space. |
