well I'am a new gentoo user I'am using gentoo for a month now , I got the matrix reloaded now and I just want to play it I emerged mplayer everything went good , I enabled the video thing in the kernel and all the modules .
when I'am trying to play it I have a black window and nothing go's . I can play the same file in Slackware don't now where the problem is . I try'ed all the video outputs something like x11 ones but I have the same thing .
Tought you culd help. |

Try to change your video options in /etc/mplayer.conf:
If you are using the nvidia driver try vo=xv
If you are using another driver try vo=x11 |

Hey, thanks. I was wondering which is the right driver for
Nvidia. The only problem is now the fluxbox bar stays on
top on fullscreen. I tried all the different layering orders.
Any suggestions? |

I'm also having the same layering problem with the gnome2 panel. One solution is to use xine, which fills the whole screan (there are several layering options in the xine config file). I'm pretty sure that mplayer used to work with the gnome2 panel, strange that it doesn't work now... |

Actually I see no performance hit using the sdl driver and it doesn't suffer
from the layering problem. |
