PostPosted: Sun Aug 26, 2007 5:39 pm    Post subject: Can only watch one channel in MythTV Reply with quote

I have been fighting with MythTV on and off for the past... few months and I seem to have it almost working. The one and most annoying problem I have is that when I run mythfrontend and start to watch live tv as soon as I change a channel it dumps me back out to the main menu and all further attempts to watch tv are twarted when mythfrontend tells me I cannot watch live tv because a show is being recorded(the show it immediately started to record when I first tried to watch tv).

If I restart the backend I can watch again... I only have one tv tuner card with one input. Is it possible to have this setup, or do you need more than one input? I have searched all over for some sort of setting that I might be able to change to give LiveTV priority over what is being recorded(thinking that maybe it wouldn't crash if I did that).

Here is the log from the frontend with -v playback
And below that is the log for the backend.

I have searched around the internet and a few different mythtv forums and either no one has my problem, or it's so easy to solve it hasn't been an issue...

Thanks in advance for any help!

MythTV Version: 0.20.1_p14146

It's been so long since I've used Live TV, that this may not be current, but... Usually if you see a crash of just mythfrontend while recording, but the backend is still running, you'll need to go to the Watch Recordings screen instead of going back to Live TV.

It's hard to tell from your logs where things occur based on your description though?

This seems weird:
Code:
2007-08-26 13:35:06.306 NVR: AudioInit(): /dev/null : error setting audio input device to 32000kHz/16bits/2channel
2007-08-26 13:35:06.306 NVR: Could not detect audio blocksize
2007-08-26 13:35:06.326 NVR: /dev/null: error setting audio input device to 32000 kHz/16 bits/2 channel

Do you have /dev/null set as your capture device for audio?

Perhaps it's better to approach things in a 'first things, first' sort of way: Which capture card are you using?

I did notice the /dev/null thing. As far as I know I don't have anything set for audio capture device. I wasn't going to worry about it since I couldn't even get normal tv watching to work. I figured if the audio thing was going to cause a crash then it would happen as soon as I start to watch, not wait until the channel is changed.

To answer your question about what card I'm using: it's the Win2000XP and I am using the bt878 drivers that are in the kernel.

Thanks again for any incite you may have into my problem.

Well, it seems that it's a decoder error on mythfrontend's side, so it's a possibility and fixing the audio error can't hurt.
