Something I've been trying to come up with... here is what I want to do:
Currently in my living room I have a pc hooked up to my entertainment center, and a small touchscreen pc on the table next to my couch. I use it to play mp3s with xmms using ssh, I love it, works great. I want to take it to the next level though.
Ideally what I want is simply the xine-ui displayed on the touchscreen (using ssh) and I want the actual video output to be displayed locally on the pc hooked to the entertainment center to my tv through my video card's svideo out.
After lots of thought, searching on google, and my own experiments I can't figure out a way to make it work. Would like some others opinions though. I suppose there is always the possiblity of writing some kind of simple gui for xine-remote but that is a bit beyond my skills and more importantly time. (plus it wouldn't look as cool)
tia for any feedback. |

Why not try Videolan (media-video/vlc and media-video/vls.) There is both a client and server to do what you want. I am in the process of trying the exact same thing over an 802.11b network. |

I had not heard of this videolan before. I skimmed over their page and am still not sure if it will do exactly what I want, but I certainly appreciate your pointing it out. I'll be experimenting with it... thanks. |
