|
|
I've been trying to put Gentoo on a Blade 150 without success.
I ran the Gentoo install a few weeks ago and it started fine but could not recognize the hard drive, so I thought I'd install Solaris on it to set the hdd right, and the Solaris 9 install went fine. Now when I try to boot Gentoo I get the following error.
Code: |
Allocated 8 Megs of memory at 0x40000000 for kernel
Loaded kernel version 2.6.17
Loading initial ramdisk (837842 bytes at 0xDF802000 phys, 0x40C0000 virt)...
Illegal Instruction
ok

I tired the 2.6.20 kernel, the same error comes along. I even tried Ubuntu and Debian to see if something was wrong with the cd. The same error shows up there. I suspected hardware failure so I tried to install Solaris 9 again and put some pressure on it so I worked with it a week and it ran without any signs of trouble. Again I tried the install and the same errors comes along.
Anyone have any ideas what to try next? Any ideas are most welcome. _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On

Apparently this was a result of cd failure. What I don't understand is how it's possible that none of the 3 distros I tried work. And I'm 100% sure that I did boot from this CD the day I got it. Oh well, downloaded the full install CD and install is now on the way. _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On
