Hi.
When I trying out INN and have done all the thing of setup i thing I have to do, and using this command:
su - news -c/usr/lib64/news/bin/rc.news
or
su news -c /usr/lib64/news/bin/rc.nes
and then checks in directory /var/log/news is there nothing made of logs.
and looking it system logs in /var/log/messages is it showing this:
Successful su for news by root
+ tty4 root.news (I does it on box4 why the other box wondows is used to other things.
session opened for user news by (uid=0)
session closed for user news
Do anyone know what there is worng ?
I have setup al the path the shoudl need for INN.
Just have I to make a new user named news and INN. _________________ Gert K. Andersen |

Have you followed the install instructions?

You need to assign a real shell to the news user, or else starting inn will fail. You can use 'usermod -s /bin/bash news' for this.

You should then be able to use the init script (/etc/init.d/innd) to start/stop the service. |
