gentoo with 2.6.12.5-xbox on my xbox

hello.

i cant get my sound working on my xbox with linux on it, gentoo.
this is what i get from dmesg,
ALSA /var/tmp/portage/alsa-driver-1.0.10_rc3/work/alsa-driver-1.0.10rc3/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:1934: AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET
Intel ICH: probe of 0000:00:06.0 failed with error -13

doesnt matter if i build it in the kernel, or if i emerge alsa-drivers.
i always end up with the same errormsg.

anyone have any suggestions ?
im really out of ideas.

bump

my xbox is fine - loaded as modules in my kernel 2.6.14.3
but i did have a lot of trouble with alsa complaining about the card not being there, so i had ot manually edit /etc/modules.d/alsa

anyone?

I have the exactly the same problem. Followed wiki, put

"snd_intel8x0 xbox=1" into /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel.2.6,

dmeg has following after modprobe

ALSA /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.14_rc2-r1/work/alsa-driver-1.0
.14rc2/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:2042: AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET
Intel ICH: probe of 0000:00:06.0 failed with error -13

but

cat /proc/asound/cards returns:
--- no soundcards ---

mine says t h same, but works perfectly fine in xorg with fluxbox and xmms. Its supposed to say that. If your sound dosent work, try upgrading your kernel

EDIT: also make shure linux knows your using an xbox by

modprobe snd-intel8x0 xbox=1

as i said previous, it gives me that error to but my sound works perfectly fine.
