|
|
After an emerge --deep -u world about a week ago, some of the fonts in gtk apps (gtk1 firebird, gtk2 gaim, gtk2 xchat) are all weird. This only affects some of my fonts. For example, Times New Roman is broken, but Helvetica works fine.
What can I do about this? |

of subpixel antialiasing. You may want to turn it off, or switch the colour order.[/code] |

I have the same problem. How can I turn it off and get "normal" antia-aliasing? |

I got it fixed on my machine after some weirdness. /etc/fonts/local.conf had an entry for subpixel rendering, but it was commented out. I uncommented it, but nothing changed. In desparation, I tried changing the order from rgb to gbr. This fixed it, but I was still curious. I changed it back to rgb and it still worked fine.
Basically, I have no idea why it was broken or how I fixed it. If you're indeed having the same problem, venator, I suggest messing around with local.conf. Good luck. |

I got the old-style antialiasing by uncommenting the entry in /etc/fonts/local.conf and putting rgba in there. |
