Graphics Card blacks out every 4 minutes

i'm not sure if this is a kernel driver problem or what, but i have an ati radeon 1600X graphics card (dual head), and if there's no activity, the screens just go black. of course when i move my mouse of punch a key, the screen comes back up. the problem is, the screen goes out before even my xscreensaver can run. i mean, it's like, 4 minutes of inactivity and it blacks out. how do i change this? where is this issue rooted?
