GNOME Application Problems

Hi. I am mainly a KDE user, but I use a lot of GNOME applications. However, I am having a couple of problems/issues running them under KDE.

First is that in the open/save dialogue the icons that populate the "Places" list (except File Systems), so "freddie" and "Desktop" both have 'new page' icons, instead of the proper desktop and home folder icons. In the file browser list itself it seems as if things are either a file or a folder and are assigned icons on that basis (as opposed to different types of documents having different icons)

Also, on my Gentoo system that runs GNOME the "Places" list also contains any mounted file systems (pen drives etc), while on my other system which runs KDE it just has Desktop, freddie and File System, even if I have a pen drive mounted.

Can anybody help me?
