|
|
Ok, first of all, I'm a real newbie with Linux/Gentoo, so when something goes wrong, google is my first aid.
But I couldn't find any help on google about this, so I'm asking here.
The problem is that after installing some Nvidia drivers, my ordinary Metacity desktop got replaced with 3 Root windows and an analog clock, which sort of freaked me out. Anyone know how I can revert to my old desktop?
edit: My bad, really stupid mistake. |

sounds like you lost one of your config files, namely the one telling X to run a decent Window Manager.
what you're seeing is a WM called twm, which is the default WM.
post your /etc/rc.conf and /home/<user>/.xinitrc
edit: also, are you using a Desktop Environment like GNOME, or just the WM? _________________ Prescott-2.8GHz | ThermalTake SilentTower | Asus P4P800-Deluxe | 1536mb | 7600GS | Gentoo
