|
|
I have recently updated hplip and now I can't print. I concluded that I needed to run hp-setup, which is one of the files associated with the build, but I come up with an error.: Basically, the printer is automatically discovered (I'm using ip based, not usb), but then when I select Next on Select/Confirm PPD File, I get an error which follows:
Quote: |
|Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/hplip/ui/setupform.py", line 231, in showPage
self.readwriteFaxInformation(True)
File "/usr/share/hplip/ui/setupform.py", line 676, in readwriteFaxInformation
d = fax.FaxDevice(self.fax_uri)
File "/usr/share/hplip/fax/fax.py", line 363, in __init__
TypeError: __init__() takes at most 5 arguments (6 given)

Has anyone run into this? Are there any work arounds?
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

I have marked this as solved. There were several things that I did to eventually get it to work.
Moved from hplip ~x86 to earlier version. I had originally moved to ~x86, because at the time, the standard version didn't support scanning. (Or, at least on my system). However, the standard version is beyond what was then ~x86. By moving to the earlier version, the python error messages went away. However, it still wouldn't print.
Reinstalled anything on my system with foomatic in the name. I did this because of an error that I noticed in cups.
Reinstalled ghostscript-esp.
This last item is what actually worked. Once I restarted cups and hplip, I was able to do a test print. I don't actually know what was wrong with ghostscript-esp, but I'm pleased that it seems work now. |
