I want to be able to record the video stream from my DirectTV DVR, using a gui rather than from the command line. Does anyone know of a video capture program with a gui that will work with ivtv? |

It is probably overkill but look at mythtv.
It provides full Tivo like functionality on linux and works with ivtv. _________________ My boy, my boy! |

I thought that MYthTV only captured video from the tuner input. Does it also capture video for the SVideo input? If not, I'm still looking for a tool to capture video form the SVideo input of my Hauppage PVR150 |

I am currently using MythTv with a PVR250 that captues video from S-Video and audio from the mini-plug stereo input.
Use the ivtvctl program to change inputs. If you can capture on the command line then mythtv should not have problems.
If you want mythtv to have channel change functionality you will have to do further setup.
I have a serial to USB port connection to my set top box with a perl script sending channel change requests.
I am not at home so I don't have the URL but just google directv.pl, or search the mythtv-users mailing list. http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/
Depending on your set top box you may need a serial IR-blaster which is a little harder to set up. _________________ My boy, my boy! |
