I just did an upgrade to xorg-xserver-1.3 from xorg-xserver-1.2 and now beryl is doing some weird stuff with my windows. So when i open a terminal session for instance, it opens but the prompt never comes up and i can't type in it. If i open firefox It opens but i can't type in the menu bar. It appears as tho all keyboard/mouse input is gone. However if i click the x to close the progrma it will close but even trying to click on file to get the menu i can't do. Hopefully I've explained this well enough. Anyone have any ideas? its a Dell Lattitude D620 with the Intel 945 card. I have the 915resolution working and am at 1400x900. Any ideas?

I have had this problem too several times, and am suffering from it at the moment since upgrading to 1.4 from 1.3.
The problem is that the windows aren't refreshing: I believe if you manually refresh them say, by resizing the windows, you'll see all of the text that you've typed into them.

I think that the fix is to recompile some packages onto the new xorg, but I don't know which packages yet, sorry :(. I'm going to start tonight with recompiling all of the dependencies of compiz and work my way up :)

Edit: Oh, I get the feeling that it's these new lines in Xorg.0.log that cause the problems:
Code:

(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23
(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x24
(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25

I see those too so i'm guessing that might be it. Any luck yet? I've done some recompiling myself with not luck yet.

Just to say, since beryl and compiz have merged back, beryl was discontinued afaik. I just switched to compiz-0.5.2 in portage. A bit different, but compiz seems to have made progress on the stability.

In case you want to give it a try.

(compiz-extras still failed to compiled but it's optional)
