Has anyone here gotten nouveau working as an alternative to nvidia-drivers?
if so, wioll it actually work, and will multiple monitors work?
and if so, how did you emerge it?
I added to via layman, but cant seem to emerge it |

As an alternative to nvidia-driver, well that is to much it is much more of a fun to try if you want to help them out since it is in a very early development and hasn't integrated 2D nor 3D support entirely yet. At this stage you might be better of helping them develop rather than using the driver in a production enviorment. Thats is just my little knowledge of the drivers so far. Hope it helps a bit. _________________ Gentoo: Gigabyte: nFORCE 2: nVIDIA GeForce 6600: AMD Athlon XP 3200+

Well, now I just have nouveau emerged and man, it works really good, I have it as an alternative to nvidia since xorg 7.3 ABI changes made the latest nvidia blob not work, but I am glad it did now I'm happy with the 2d nouveau brings I plan on using them until nvidia release a new blob. _________________ Gentoo: Gigabyte: nFORCE 2: nVIDIA GeForce 6600: AMD Athlon XP 3200+

I used the driver for a couple of days and it performed pretty good, but for some reason GTK was really slow. |
