hi,
i am trying to setup gentoo on my new amd64 x2. It went witout problems up to the point where i wanted to emerge kdebase-startkde.
It always fails on qt with a segfault. I already searched google + forums, but i couldn't find anything...

Did you try it without -frename-registers and -fweb?

I'd try a recompile of GCC then. I had a similar issue with GCC segfaulting that a recompile solved.

GCC-4.2.0 is very buggy, you can try a 4.2.1 ebuild that's in bugzilla. _________________ My emerge --info
Have you run revdep-rebuild lately? It's in gentoolkit and it's worth a shot if things don't work well.

oh, didn't know that. I guess i set ~amd64 just because i was used to...
I guess i will try that then... before reinstalling (downgrading gcc/glibc seems to be no option)
thx! _________________ --
