Hi,
I'm having a strange problem with my Gentoo box. I have a PS2 keyboard which I plug into a USB adapter which I plug into one of the USB slots on the back of the box. When I do this and boot the machine what happens is that when I'm presented with the GRUB splash screen, the machine accepts the [Enter] keystroke to choose the default OS, but once Gentoo boots up, it won't accept any input from the keybard at all. If I take the USB adapter out of the picture and plug the keyboard directly into the PS2 slot on the back of the machine, everything works fine. I have no idea how to proceed. Does the make sense to anyone? Thanks in advance.

It seems like you don't have the usb device driver loaded at startup. You should have uhci_hcd, ohci_hcd, or ehci_hcd compiled into the kernel or have the modules loaded. _________________ "There will be more joy in heaven over the tear-bathed face of a repentant sinner than over the white robes of a hundred just men." Hi SnEptUne,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. According to lsmod, I have all three of those modules loaded. I should mention also that my USB trackball functions and so did a previous USB Keyboard which was a Dell Wireless. My problems started when that keyboard died and I replaced it with an old PS2 keyboard I had lying around. The strange thing is that the PS2->USB adapter behind the KVM switch works fine for the windows machines behind the switch. It's only Gentoo which is complaining.
