|
|
I'm running the official ebuild for VMWare Server, v. 1.0.3 build-44356. Every 24 hrs, it shuts down (pauses) all of my running VMs. And when I connect to it with the remote server console, I get the following error message:
"The VMware Server license you are using has expired and your virtual machine
will now be suspended.
Be sure that your host machine's date and time are set correctly.
Please contact VMware, Inc. to obtain a new serial number."
The host clock is set by ntpd and is never off by more than a second or two. Even after installing a new serial number, it still fails after 24 hrs.
I have never had any other version of VMWare Server installed on this host. In fact, I just installed this host from scratch a week ago.
Can somebody tell me what is going on here? This is really annoying and will be a showstopper for my deployment of VMWare. I'll be happy to provide any further information if necessary. I've cross-posted this on the vmware forums, but have yet to get a response.
software versions:
kernel: 2.6.22-gentoo-r2
app-emulation/vmware-modules-1.0.0.15-r1
app-emulation/vmware-server-1.0.3.44356
Thanks.

Maybe it's a VM bug? 1.0.3 is masked now because of security problems, would you mind trying 1.0.4? |
