|

Is there a repository somewhere where I can get an older version of a package. I need one of the 2.6.20-X suspend2-sources packages and I lost mine when I rebricked my laptop a couple of weeks ago.
I need the older one because 2.6.21 and 2.6.22 don't work with my Intel HD audio equipped laptop.
For testing, I compiled a kernel using the 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 kernel and sound is one again working great... but the oldest package in portage for suspend2 is a 2.6.21.
If I cant find the older package, I may just grab a 2.6.20 vanilla sources and add the suspend2 patches manually, but I'd rather not do that because I want the extras that are in gentoo-sources. (Anybody know what the delta is between them? i.e. - will it really matter?) |

Isn't it better idea to patch gentoo-sources?

It can be done, but it tends to be less reliable and could in certain cases require considerable manual effort to get the patch to take (all depends on just what's been modified between Gentoo and Vanilla) |

Why are you so concerned about relyability on laptop? Suspend2-sources has never marked as stable (as I remember) - it is always testing.
I also have Intel HD audio and use alsa from portage. I use vanilla sources 2.6.22.6 manually patched with suspend2 and everything works well. Last crash I had on 2.6.21 sources. I don't remember flavour. |
