|
|
I am using the hardened profile for AMD64 and have been for a while.
It's been a bit of a pain to say the least.
I would like to switch to the non-hardened profile, and maybe even switch to 32-bit mode.
How do I migrate my profile?
Thanks! |

The switch to non-hardened may be possible, but I'm pretty sure the switch to 32 bit would require a full re-install.
If you want to try the switch (to none hardened), all you should really have to do is switch to a vanilla gcc, switch to a non-hardened profile, clean up your USE flags if necessary, and then emerge -e system && emerge -e world.
Before the emerge -e system, it might be worth you're while to do `emerge =gcc-4* && gcc-config (whatever the gcc 4 compiler is) && source /etc/profile && emerge =gcc-4*`, ie you should make you sure youhave a working gcc 4.* compiler first.
That might work.
If you are using a non-multilib hardened profile, you should probably switch to a non-multilib desktop profile at first.
I've been using a hardened amd64 system for quite a while now without any (serious) issues, may I ask what problems you've encountered? _________________ "You have to invite me in" |

Acrobat, flash, and opera don't work. 32-bit emulation is b0rked. |
