Vegastrike

Any one who can tell me how to install vegastrike on my computer?

Hi,

the portage version is extremly out of date.

I recommend to download the 'linux_vegastrike-cvs.sh' from their homepage and run as root.
But:
their cvs is fast moving at the moment, so you might get a version, that does not work. The one from the next night may work perfectly or not built at all. But the vs devs are very friendly and try to help you. So it is worth a try.

the download is pretty big - if you don't have a fast connection and some harddisk space, you won't have much fun.

their setup-script is still broken and to switch between fullscreen and windowmode still needs some editing in your favorite editor.

There is a nice HowTo on their site now. I'll try to follow it and see if I can compile the latest version in svn repository

P.S.
By the way, I have Gentoo amd64 as well.

I installed the svn version from 1.Sep and it works great. The new ASAP is nice, no problems... no, there are two/three:

it is slower. More ships are in system and the game is slower because of this - not in real speed but in fps (50-60 instead of a lot over 100)

with the new ASAP it is a lot harder not to fly into a space station

I am not able to dock to a clydesdale.

did you intalled the glut-devel package? Or only the glut package is everything the glut-related thing you need? i can't find glut-devel neither in the portage or this forum.
