Hi,
I'm having a REALLY wired problem. I syncronized my clock with ntpdate, and received a time difference of about one hour. Nothing strange so far, BUT I noticed that my clock is "loosing" about three to five minutes per hour. I got an Intel 810 Chipset.
One week ago Debian was still installed, never had any problems with my clock being off more than 0.5 seconds in _weeks_...
Any solutions for that problem? Thanks in advance,
Michael |

There are quite a few threads on this topic. From what I've read, there is no single solution. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Oh please tell me your kidding...I just saw the other postings... I wouldn't mind, if it was my desktop machine - but it is my notebook and it is offline the entire week... (
Thanks for your fast responds,

Does setting your 'jiffies' to 100 in the kernel help? thats what fixed it for me when I had this problem a year ago. |

Hm, I was just playing around with the "real" 2.4.20 from kernel.org. Until now pretty much no offset...I will keep the machine up & running the whole night to test it (Clock drifting is not acceptable for me on that system).
I already thought about setting the jiffies to a different value, but I couldn't decide which value Would be nice if it would solve the problem, since the gentoo sources are quite nice...
Thanks,
Michael |

What I meant was that there is not "one solution for all occurances of the problem". I think I've read 3-4 different solutions. Possibly more. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Sorry, little misunderstanding...
Well, Kernel 2.4.20 seems to work fine, no time drifts so far! |
