hey everyone!
i am installing gentoo on my old g3 that was given to me as a present
however, i need to know how to partition my disks.
with the fdisk, what do i need to input for a 2.7gb partition? i have 3.6gb free space
eg the first block is "7598320", then it says "length (in blocks, KB (k), MB (M) or GB (G)):"
when i input 2700MB, 2.7gb, 2.7g or 2700m, it then goes to "enter name of partition" when i enter anything (like didums, /dev/hda7) then it simply says "requested base and length is not within an existing free partition"
what do i need to name my partitions? _________________ kind regards,

Do you have 3.6GB of free space on an HFS partition or do you have 3.6GB of unpartitioned space on the drive? What does it show if you enter p at the mac-fdisk prompt? _________________ Robert |

since the whole 'block' thing confused me, i just used the apple disk formater on the os9 cd, created my partitions of different file systems, then just used the mke2fs -j command on them. good to go! thanks for replying though _________________ kind regards,
