I have an Ultra60 with a Creator 3D. I've gotten everything working so far, except resolution switching. I've tried specifying a resolution on the kernel command line, changing the output-device variable in OBP, and prodding Xorg to use a different resolution. fbset reports (obviously incorrect) timings of "0 0 0 0 0 0 0" and silently refuses to change the resolution.
Someone in #gentoo-sparc suggested I set "UseFBDev" "false" in xorg.conf, but even with that option enabled nothing changed. (except X spitting out a message saying it isn't using that option.)
Anything else I can try? Aside from being a wonky aspect ratio, my monitor can't quite handle the refresh rate it's trying to use.

Edit:
While I still can't get the card to switch resolutions at runtime, I found out why I couldn't do 1280x960 even if I told OBP to use it. Turns out the Creator 3D doesn't support that resolution. I was spoiled by "modern" cards.
My refresh rate is now low enough for my monitor to handle, so I don't have a problem anymore. |
