Guys I am seriously wondering about this...
Do I need a firewall on my box?
I always knew linux was secure, but I am wondering about a 'What if' scenario happens.
Here is the deal...
I am running the newest gentoo kernel out, 2.6.22 r5 on my box upstairs, and I have a windows box downstairs.
Both of these boxes are connected through my linksys wrt54g router, which has an SPI firewall running.
I don't have sshd running EVER on my linux box.
Do I really need an iptables type firewall? |

While you might not, in the strictest sense, need it, having a properly configured firewall is essentially free of negative aspects. |

I think you should be fine... you have a router with a firewall, which should be sufficient. Unless you're really worried a windows PC on your LAN is going to infect your linux PC... _________________
