if it not one thing its something else...
you may remember me from a post last week about a fakey window mode that rendered wolfenstein unusable... Well, i never got that one solved and since wolfenstein is basically the only reason i use windows, i upgraded to 1.3a and started fresh.
well it solved my original problem, but NOW the game crashes when i try to enter a level (the progress bar rarely gets past 50%). I dont see any output in the terminal when i run the program about any specific error. this happens less often when the graphics are turned really low, but it still happens a vast majority of the times.
this is the terminal output...
Code: |
LOADING... graphics
LOADING... maps/mp_beach.bsp
stitched 0 LoD cracks
...loaded 5432 faces, 264 meshes, 259 trisurfs, 168 flares
LOADING... entities
LOADING... game media
LOADING... - textures
/usr/bin/wolfmp: line 5: 4375 Killed ./wolf.x86 $*
|
sometimes it gets a little further sometimes not as far, but im pretty sure that depends on the map
at this point it dumps me back to the desktop at the game's resolution with my mouse speed really slow. if i raise it in kde preferemces>peripheral menu next time i start kde its WAY too fast.
it seems like something is killing wolfenstein when it begins taking up too much resources.
any ideas? |

Try playing wolfenstein in fluxbox instead of kde. _________________ This message self destructed a long time ago. |

I had about the same problem with RtCW, it kept loading for hours but nothing really seemed to happen untill it crashed. The problem dissapeared when i upgraded my memory from 256 to 512 MB.
I guess a larger swap partition wil help, too. Good luck! |

That can hardly be what it is (possible), I only have 192Meg Ram and can run it without any problems at all. _________________ This message self destructed a long time ago. |
