FSCK decided that my ext3 partition had a corrupted something, and proceded to do a huge amount of crap. Now when i mount the drive i have a lost+found folder that's *huge* and *nothing else*
What gives? I thought ext3 was uber-cool-never-breaky and all taht? :(

how can i recover?
Can i?

Cmon... this sucks!

I once had a partition resize fail. When I tried to mount it afterwards, it fsck'ed for hours, and, like in your case, lost+found was huge and there weren't anything else. If you look in the lost+found-dir I believe you will find a lot of the missing files, and if there are still some files missing I think they're completely lost (I'm not entirely sure, though).

Well.. i've found some stuff through "find .|grep x", and gotten it moved over to my new, improved partition. Saddly, i didn't get my etc folder (whole thing gone), but i've got my world file.

Can anyone tell me (in the next eight hours preferably) how to replace my world file into a new install and how to then use it to reinstall my stuffs (i assume a emerge -u world should work, no?)

THanks!
-Matt
