Before you guys link https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-566866-highlight-poor+sound+quality.html I've seen it. ;)

I added ACPI support for my mobo and did make && make modules_install.

I rebooted the kernel. No sound. Tried my older kernel that DID have sound. Nothing.

What do I do? I tried taking ACPI out and running that make command again. Booted that kenel. nothing works

EDIT
Commented out #options snd-hda-intel model=3stack position_fix=1 in my /etc/modules.d/alsa file
Did update-modules, then restarted the sound. Sound is back.

Weird thing is one time I did have that line in there, I got perfect sound. Now it often prevents any sound and when it doesn't, the sound is still poor quality.
model=macbook does not work either.

Not about getting gentoo installed, so moved here.

Sorry 'bout that. I can't imagine why I posted it here.
Was solved by taking out ALL alsa support in the kernel and just having Sound Card Support enabled.

Really? How does that work? When do the soundcard drivers get loaded, then, if they're not compiled as either modules or into the kernel?

I have not successfully gotten sound output to work on my Santa Rosa Macbook - has anyone gotten it working on this new model?
