Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the best place for this thread seems to be the most fitting. I'm looking for a program to obtain an attached monitors serial number. The monitors are attached to some embedded devices and there's no X environment running, only framebuffer. Apparently this information should be obtained from the EDID of the monitor. So I got a program called "read-edid", but its output was kind of garbled and didn't return anything of use (except that DDC2 was supported). I also found another program, ddccontrol, which won't run on the device because it only compiles and runs on machines with a newer GLIBC (the embedded device is old, 2.2 GLIBC - and i didnt notice any particular reasons why it wouldnt compile, just obscure errors).
So I'm hoping someone might know a way I could get this information. Any help is appreciated,
thanks. _________________ [ 2008.0 X86 E8400 @ 4.0Ghz ] |

Two thoughts. First, could you compile ddccontrol on a newer machine (static) and then copy the executable to the embedded device?
Second, have you tried sending the output of read-edid to the developer of that app? He may be able to decipher it (per the comments on his web page as listed in the ebuild.) |
