I had acpid working for me.
but suddenly I don't remember when it started but it stop working.
I can't shutdown with the power button, and the main problem is that when I close my lid the system freezes
I tried to reemerge acpid and also emerged acpid 1.06
nothing helps.
any idea?

hey,
do you have tools running like gnome-power-manager? what kernel are you running? did you upgrade your kernel recently? please post some more info about your system and major changes since your last known working configuration.
cheers

well I'm not using any power manager tools.
I did an kernel upgrade( also today so I'm now using 2.6.22-r5) but when I use my rescue kernel I'm still having this problems.
the only major thing that I remember is that I used clearlinks/or clear and a lot of my system config files were deleted and then I emerged kde-base |

You have been following the gentoo power management guide and created a new battery runlevel. Now you somehow deleted the script
Code: | pmg_switch_runlevel.sh |
that switches the runlevel from battery to default or vice versa. Thats the reason for the error message.
Are you using the hibernate-script? Have you checked if its still working? Run
to test your settings.
