Can i ask why in mplayer ebuild is hardcoded the path to realplayer libs to /opt/Realplayer/lib (or something similar) instead of /usr/lib/real ?
I tried to change it by hand and it work without the need to have realplayer emerged but only win32codecs with +real use.
Are there any disavantage in doing this ?
I think not many people want to have N mediaplayer for N codecs or am I wrong ? |

Because there are two sets of real libs. win32codecs and RealPlayer's.
Just install both, and you'll have all the available real libs there are. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |

I think that it's more like three
Mplayer can natively play most real media just ok without win32codecs nor realplayer. For the few ones that will fail, you can try those two. But I don't have any of them installed and don't usually find anything I can't open with the standard mplayer (I'm on amd64, so I don't really have much options anyway, unless I use mplayer-bin). |
