I have scim & skim installed with KDE running, yet I can only "toggle on" skim on firefox and pidgin, nothing on kde actually works. I have cjk in the USE flag and LINGUAS is set up correctly. Do you know what I have done wrong, or where I should check? Please let me know. |

Hello
Try
QT_IM_MODULE="scim" kopete
(Or another qt app)
Another way would be to open qtconfig. There should somewhere be an option to switch the input method from xim to scim.
You can also just right click into some text fields on qt and change the input method from xim to scim. |

Hi Hellstorm,
Thanks for your help - but it is still not working. When I did QT_IM_MODULE="scim" amarok, I still can't turn on skim/scim by pressing ctrl + space. I wonder what else I could do.......... |

I have a /etc/env.d/99scim with the following content:
XMODIFIER="@im=SCIM"
QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
XIM=SCIM
XIM_PROGRAM=SCIM
xinput=scim
I don’t know what is really necessary and what the other entries mean. I know only that QT_IM_MODULE="scim" and GTK_IM_MODULE="scim" are necessary.
And I installed these packages:
app-i18n/scim
app-i18n/scim-anthy
app-i18n/scim-hangul
app-i18n/scim-input-pad
app-i18n/scim-pinyin
app-i18n/scim-qtimm
app-i18n/scim-tables
app-i18n/skim
Maybe you should install app-i18n/scim-qtimm?
It’s too long that I’ve installed my system, I guess I will try to install a new Gentoo system on a pc and record all the steps I need to set up scim.
But even with these options, I can’t use Scim in Openoffice. |
