Hi
I have a gentoo box running amavis, postfix, spamassassin, postgrey, and clamav. I recently had a user accidentally delete one of their email subfolders. Incidentally, they are using Thunderbird as a mail client. I was able to retrieve the subfolder from my backup drive (I ftp the zipped tarballs to a shared windows external drive). I have put the subfolder back where it belongs in the users directory and changed the permissions to the users name and group; however, when I try to access the folder from the users machine, I receive a 'unable to open folder' error. I can read the email in the subfolder using Mutt. Do I need to run a postsuper command? What am I missing?
Thanks for any help you can offer! |

This has nothing to do with postifx. Your user is accessing the mailbox via IMAP or POP. Please check the logs of your IMAP or POP server. |

Thanks for your reply vad3r. Apparently, when using the 'chown' command, there is a difference between the '-r' and '-R' options. At any rate, once I realized that the ownership had not changed recursively, I was able to solve the issue. |
