Hi,
I got this message (on my NFS server) while moving a large amount of data from the client to it. So far I could not find anything usefull with google, some posts indicate that the hardware may be too slow. This is a Duron 700 with 384 MB RAM and three disks managed by LVM. There is also a Realtek card => 8139too
On the client side I had some messages in /var/log/messages about NFS indicating that the server is not responding:
16:55:41 mirage kernel: nfs: server raw not responding, still trying
16:56:56 mirage kernel: nfs: server raw OK
So far the NFS server had no problems handling the load... I wonder what it could be and if the two messages are related to each other.
Thanks,
Stefan |

UPDATE: I recompiled the kernel with the nfs over tcp. The nfs problems are gone but the initial "...too much work on..." remains. I also changed the networkcard (also choosed another PCI slot). |
