|
|
Just wondering, is there any way to have a bunch of XFS partitions work with the gentoo-sources kernel? I am interested in having the performance of the gentoo kernel, but also like the idea of XFS.
If not, ext2 isn't horrible or anything. Will ext3 work with gentoo-sources too? Maybe thats what I want to use.
(I am not particulary a XFS fan, just want to try out a journaling FS for a change, tired of FSCK ) |

ext3 works with gentoo-sources, its a journalising fs. Not sure about the XFS with gentoo-sources, but I don't think it works. |

xfs works with the latest gentoo sources....but i am still trying to get the prformance to match taht of ext3 or reiserfs...i think you might just as well stay with ext3 unless your system requires the use of a particualr feature available in xfs |

The Gentoo kernel has the XFS patches in it I think. I only run ReiserFS. I don't care for XFS at this time. _________________ I can't think of anything catchy to put here, so I'll just leave it blank. |

i went back to ext3 after not seeing any performance using xfs and then a box i had rieserfs on blew up on me...so i can see why thats not recommended witht he 2.4.xx kernel just yet....that and ext3 is 98% as fast it seems...so screw it. |
