After doing searches on the board for this similiar problem, I ended up turning on all the suggested usb and input modules to be compiled as modules. But, no matter which combination of modules I try, I can't get the mouse to work. /dev/input/mice, /dev/usbmouse, /dev/mouse are all silent during a cat. The keyboard works fine.

Motherboard is epox 8rda+, usb 1.1 and 2.0 turned on.

Of a interesting note is the result of lspci -v; it lists that two usb are handled by ehci, and one by ohci. However, loading ohci turns off the keyboard completely. This is leaving me stumped, as it worked just fine in mandrake 9.1...

Thanks for any assistance :/

I have an Asus A7N8X deluxe (Nforce2) mobo and the same keyboard/mouse.
Here's what worked for me:
cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
***Input core support***
(*)Keyboard support
(*)Mouse support
(1280) Horizontal screen resolution
(1024) Vertical screen resolution
***USB Support***
<*> EHCI HCD (USB 2.0) support (EXPERIMENTAL)
...
<*> OHCI (Compaq, iMacs, OPTi, SiS, ALi, ...) support
...
<*> USB Human Interface Devices (HID)
[*] HID input layer support

And finally, I'm going to assume you knew what you were doing, and remember to hit the little "connect" button on the bottom of the mouse.... I forgot that one 8)
