Hi could anyone reccomend any burning software for mp3 files ?
Im using the gnome desktop
thanks.

Changed subject heading from "cd mp3 burning" to "Recommend a CD-Burning App.", as the more general case seems a good fit. -- desultory

Admins - if this belongs in multimedia, feel free to bump it there. Its not really a bug / issue, i just cant decide what burning app to use :P

I use gentoo amd64, and i need a CD/DVD burning app :) I notice KDE has its own K3B app, but im minimalist and use XFCE4. Do you guys n gals know any good burning apps? All i want to burn is audio cd's, ISO's -> disk, and data -> disk. I dont care about DVD movies or anything like that.

Ill be using this on both my gentoo lappy (with its burner) and my desktop too.

Any ideas? I ran an "emerge --search CD | grep burn" to see what there was, but i cant imagine that got everything, and i couldnt find any good reviews on this area.

Ideas are welcome! cheers :)

H.

It doesnt detect that the CD in the CDROM drive is blank :/ It comes up with the correct "Device: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-215", but wont let me choose the speed/write mode or hit "burn". I think it may be time to bump this to multimedia as its now a bug :(

You could try a command-line app like cdrecord. If you're a little adventurous. ;)

xfburn works! just wants to be run as root.

whats the user group for CDRom burning? I'll need to add my user to it.

Admin: this would probably best suit the "multimedia" section. I anticipated it would be a big "which cdburn app is better" debate :/ - my bad!

Try
Code:
 cat /etc/group|egrep "(cd|dvd)"

and choose one. You may also check permissions on
Code:
ls -l /dev/*cd*

I like bashburn a lot. Its text-only interface is a lot easier to use and effective than many graphical interfaces. Yes, I'm looking at you xcdroast.

As you wish. Merged the above nine posts, and used the subject from that topic for the joined topic.
